What is the opportunity?


Working as a key member of the leadership teams of two VPs ensuring successful achievement of their Strategic and Operational priorities. The CCO will take a leadership role in several key areas including: financial management oversight, communications management, global thematic initiatives and retrospectives, monitoring progress to plan on audit production milestones and driving QAR sustainability. The COO will also play a critical role in helping to shape and guide the future growth and development of these teams.


What will you do?


  • Provide oversight and escalate as appropriate progress made by the audit teams in developing and delivering their annual audit plan.
  • Develop appropriate tracking reports to monitor timely progress of audits through the audit life cycle, including completion of audit profile, review/challenge expense budget, audit profile is presented for review at the executive level, hours of execution are within plan and progress is occurring to ensure report issuance occurs.
  • Proactively discuss and/or propose solutions with appropriate measures that can be taken to rectify any areas in the audit cycle for individual audits that are slipping.   
  • Accountable to develop themes and written reports for quarterly and annual communication message to business heads and audit committees for integrated audit themes driven by audit results.
  • Responsible to ensure execution of significant program initiatives, such as: Thematic reviews, refresh of Continuous Monitoring, retrospectives of major industry risk events are completed in line with IAS/IIA requirements.
  • Accountable for liaising with professional Audit standards to ensure Quality Assurance reviews feedback are incorporated in the audit work performed
  • Accountable for Financial Management controls relating to discretionary expenses that are allocated to both VPs.  Authority to review and approve for appropriateness within established VPs budget and IAS guidelines. Includes travel, training and staff meals. Responsible for ensuring Budget is not exceeded without VP approval. Responsible for co-sourcing and contractor selection coordination, review and final recommendation to appropriate level of sign off within IAS and RBC.


What do you need to succeed?



  • Minimum 15 years of experience and understanding of the key Operational drivers necessary to ensure successful Internal Audit team. 
  • Experience in auditing RBC businesses and understanding of audit approaches taken.
  • Post graduate or professional designation preferred. CPA and/or MBA preferred
  • Appreciation of risk as it pertains to RBC Global business lines, audit or project management experience, thorough understanding of the audit life cycle.
  • Demonstrated decision making skills under short time deadlines. Very strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to bring together auditors from several audit teams to drive initiatives
