Rogers is seeking a Business Intelligence Design Expert responsible for designing and implementing BI/data management platforms and systems. These systems provide report and BI interfaces for Network service performance, quality assurance and capacity planning management.  Reporting to the Manager, Network Data Management & Reporting Solutions, the successful incumbent will be designing and implementing solutions that interface with all Engineering and Network Operations teams leveraging leading edge tools and applications.


Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the internal customer requirements gathering with the objective of designing data & reporting solutions that best meet the customer needs while enabling growth for the future.
  • Design data management platforms that include database design, BI tooling and end reports to enable analysis on performance / growth trends for the network service platforms.
  • Ensure disciplined, methodical and professional design process is executed on a consistent basis.
  • Identify and apply established guidelines to effectively manage technical, product, or business risks.
  • Interface and coordinate with peer departments such as Engineering, OSS, Service Quality Assurance, Planning, and Network Operations to ensure effective design and efficient implementation of performance/BI tools.
  • Execute, assign or assist senior staff in the development of guidelines and standard practices for Rogers' technology platforms or systems.
  • Understand and execute project plans to complete tasks relative to plan development, milestones, and budget.


Qualifications:

  • Education experience should include undergraduate university degree in engineering / community college diploma with CET certification with an understanding of database, SQL and business intelligence/analysis principles, OR Computer Science degree or equivalent with an understanding of IP/Wireless network systems.
  • Analytical ability in translating technology capabilities to meet stated service/product requirements.
  • Proficient in database design practices and SQL, preferably Sybase IQ and/or Oracle Exadata.
  • Proficient with BI toolsets & design, preferably Business Objects.
  • Experience using Splunk is an asset but not a requirement.
  • Knowledge of wireless and/or wireline network platforms an asset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management; able to present information / provide advice to internal and external customers on proposed ideas, products or solutions.
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to work from assigned objectives, relative priorities and critical areas that impinge on work of other units.
  • Highly adaptive and flexible to changing environments and priorities.
