Reconciliation is the journey towards lasting relationships between Aboriginal people and other British Columbians based on mutual respect, recognition and trust.
The Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation provides strategic advice across government and identifies opportunities to facilitate the removal of barriers to stimulate positive outcomes for First Nation peoples. The Ministry is responsible for working collaboratively with Indigenous leadership and First Nation communities in the development of the cross-government reconciliation vision, and in partnership with First Nations, transforming the treaty process so it respects case law and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
The Policy Analyst, Natural Resources is responsible for carrying out research and analysis to support cross-government decision-making and policy development on issues related to the achievement of reconciliation with regard to natural resource matters of importance to the Crown and First Nations. Reviewing programs, policies and mandates to assess their effectiveness are other key responsibilities, as well as undertaking research and analysis relating to the development of cross-government interests and provincial policies. As the Policy Analyst, you will formulate and evaluate policy options and strategic approaches to new policy development; participate in engagements with First Nations, the federal government, industry, local governments and community organizations; provide advice to the Director, Strategic Policy (Natural Resources) and others; and interact with MARR and provincial line ministry staff.
